Certain things every driver should pay attention to
Throughout 2006 I've had to suffer a lot of crappy driving here in SoCal, and so I'd like to suggest some New Year's resolution to many, many, MANY drivers that I've seen on the road.
Rules on the road-
1.) When you drive, your speed should be adjusted accordingly to THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC! If all cars near you are going 80, don't go freaking 65! Vice versa about going 90+ when all cars are deadlocked in traffic going 50.
2.) If you are behind another car, you should be able to see the hind tires of said car! If you don't see it, you're too close!
3.) If you are joining into a lane, make sure that you signal BEFOREHAND. If you do not signal, there is no obligation by the car behind you to let you in, or his fault if he were to smash into you.
4.) If you are turning right during a red light, you only have to stop to ensure that there is no cars coming into the lane you're driving. You MUST turn as soon as the coast is clear rather than sit around and wait for the light to turn green!
5.)If you're doing a u-turn in a left turn, DO NOT SLOW DOWN TO A NEAR STOP! You turn your wheel all the way and keep your foot on the accelerator, not the BRAKE.
6.) When driving and having to stop soon, do NOT brake, simply lift your foot off the accelerator and slow down sloooooooowly. Hard braking = accidents! If you must brake hard, do so only if it's life and death!
